After School Team Sports

Introduction
The purpose of this page is to provide an outline of the information to children and parents regarding team sports offered in Years 3 to 7 at Glenelg Schools.

The variety of sports offered depends entirely on the willingness of parents and caregivers to coach, manage and support the teams, and may therefore vary from year to year.  By providing you with these facts about each sport we hope that you and your child or children will be able to make an informed decision about how and where you can be involved during the year.

Summer/Winter Sports
All sports will be classified as either Summer or Winter sports.  Summer sports will be played during Terms 1 and 4 and Winter sports will be played during Terms 2 and 3.  You are required to make a decision about summer and Winter sports and pay all fees at the beginning of the year to enable efficiency in money handling and earlier organisation from Term to Term.

This means that if you play cricket you are prepared to play cricket in both Term 1 and Term 4 this is your Summer Sport, and you pay $28 in one payment.  If your child chooses to pull out of cricket in Term 4 there will be no refund.  If you play football you are committing to play football in Terms 2 and 3 as this is your Winter Sport, and you pay $22 in one payment plus uniform hire.  It is possible to play two Summer or two Winter Sports as Basketball, Pee-Wee and Years 3 and 4 Netball are played on week nights with all other sports played on Saturday mornings.

The Summer Sports offered this year and which are played during Terms 1 and 4 are Cricket, T-Ball, Pee-Wee and Basketball.

The Winters Sports offered this year and which are played during Terms 2 are 3 are Football, Soccer, Netball and Basketball.

Registration Fees
Due to greater demands being placed on our budget, such as increased affiliation fees, umpiring fees, improved equipment and upgraded uniforms in many areas, it has become necessary to increase fees in many sports.  There will also be a uniform deposit where applicable which will be transferred from year to year and refunded when the child leaves the school or if a letter is written to the Sports Coordinator asking for the deposit to be refunded.

All registered players will receive a trophy of participation at the end of their season, regardless of how many teams they have played for.  There is no 'Best Player' trophies given out.
