High School Transition
|
Students in the middle years from years 5 onwards have the
opportunities to visit the local secondary schools throughout
the year. Parents are encouraged to attend these visits to make
informed decisions about their child’s secondary needs.
Our surrounding Secondary Schools offer unique programs that
cater for a variety of student needs, from special needs,
sports, performing arts and languages.
Glenelg Primary has excellent state schools in the surrounding
areas. These are
William Light, Henley,
These schools are zoned and parents need to check to make sure
that they are in an intended zone. Year 8 transition and
enrolments take place in April/May of each year. Parents are
required to complete the required DECS forms and return them
back to the school’s bursar on the date stated. Parents who are
requiring a secondary school outside of their zone for their
child need to address the criteria indicated in the enrolment
pack. Support for this is available from the leadership team at
Glenelg. It is also
a requirement that parents sending their children to a private
school return the enrolment pack with the notice to inform DECS
that they will be enrolling at a private school.
Parents
and students are notified by DECS of their child’s secondary
school in late August. There is an appeal process if a student
does not gain access to the school of their choice. |
